Universalism cut? Child benefit reforms to go ahead

BBC article.
Note that the high rate tax threshold is due to drop in 2013 from about £44k to £42k meaning there will be more people who will not be eligible for Child Benefit, when the changes go ahead.

Child benefit is currently worth £20.30 every week for a first-born child.
For each subsequent child, there is an additional weekly payment of £13.40. The money is not taxed.
